57-minute Timer Crack
*---------------------------------------------------*
By: FLoBBaSKo
Date: 5/3/1998
Version: 0.1, I guess. Let's hope I don't need to
               release another one ;)

I threw this readme together in about 5 seconds (ok,
an hour, but I kept getting interrupted), so it could
be prettier. But who cares, it gets the job done.

For those of you that have downloaded the BS-Zelda
SNES remix satellite version thingamabob, you may have
realized that the screen fades to white and ends once
57 minutes have passed. Well, this patch fixes that.
As far as I know, it SHOULD yield an unlimited amount
of playing time; however, I've only been able to test
it shortly to verify that it works, but there should
be no problems.

Included in the zip are two patches. This is because
some distributions of the rom came with an IPS that
cracked the protection to allow you to play the rom,
and some didn't.

And remember, you STILL can't play the ROM with sound
enabled, that is, at least not as of the time I wrote
this! If you apply the patch and it still doesn't
work, maybe you're forgetting this.

Oh yea, and you still have to wait 7 minutes from the
start to get control, unless you have a saved state.
As for the big white Japanese "Listen carefully!"
messages, just wait them out as usual.

I present to you now:

* bszld1.ips -- If your ROM came with a patch, or was
                patched already, and you've been
playing the damn thing, use this
smaller (yea, 11 bytes smaller) patch.
It will replace the bit of code that
shuts down the game at 57 minutes.

* bszld2.ips -- If your ROM doesn't run and didn't
come with a patch, it most likely
                didn't have the protection cracked.
This patch will disable that so you
can play the ROM, in addition to
                disabling the timer. (Thanks to
                _Demo_ for originally cracking the
                protection!)

That should be about it. Don't come crawling to me
asking how to apply the patch or anything else as
simplistic as such, as it's pretty straight forward,
and you can get the utilities at any of the big
emulation sites. Of course, if you ever see me in
#emu and want to give me a few words of gratitude,
or are interested in getting in touch with me to send
a cash donation to further research in ROM cracking
development or something, by all means, do so ;)

Thanks go to:

_Demo_, again, for originally cracking the ROM
   protection.
Infe, for uploading the ROM (and my patch ;) to
Zophar's Domain. It got me hooked enough to
care to crack the timer ;)
Peter Gabriel and Genesis (though not at the same
time, they weren't together at the time the
albums I listened to were made, but that's a
different story) for recording great music that
kept me jammin' for the some-odd hours I spent
   patchin' this baby.
SoM2Freak, for being so damn fruity ^_^
Gardetto's, for making awesome mustard pretzels to
keep my hunger quenched for those some-odd hours.
And if I've forgotten anyone, I apologize, but
   thanks anyway! :)
